Before the Estate Had Doors
There comes a time when we pause, turn around and finally see just how far the path behind us has travelled.
For me, that path began in 2006, with a love of natural quartz crystals and gemstones—and a desire to transform their ancient beauty into something that could be worn, held, treasured and eventually passed from one keeper to another.
In 2010, that creative calling was given a name: Crystal Chrysalis.
What began with my handmade, one-of-a-kind crystal and gemstone pendants and pendulums gradually grew into something much larger. Each passing year brought greater experience, deeper knowledge and new inspiration. Along the way came vintage and estate jewelry, natural treasures, curious collectibles and objects whose histories seemed to follow them home.
There were also the people who found my work.
Some came searching for a particular stone. Others were drawn to a piece they could not quite explain but somehow knew belonged with them. Some returned over many years, shared my creations with others or brought them into their own shops, collections, homes and spiritual practices.
Their trust allowed me to continue—to learn, create and imagine what might come next. To every person who has walked some part of this path with me, I remain deeply grateful. You are among this estate’s earliest visitors and oldest friends, and its doors could not have opened without you.
Now, twenty years after the artistry began, I find myself standing at the threshold of something new—yet also wonderfully familiar.
The Crystal Chrysalis Haus is not a departure from Crystal Chrysalis, nor is it a replacement for the world we created together. It is the natural unfolding of everything that came before: more experienced, more knowledgeable and spacious enough to hold all that the years have gathered.
Crystal Chrysalis did not disappear into the Estate.
It was the chrysalis from which the Estate emerged.

The Artistry Before the Name
Before there was a Crystal Chrysalis, there were simply the crystals—and the irresistible desire to discover what each one might become.
Beginning in 2006, I experimented with natural quartz points, clusters, Lemurian crystals, gemstones and the many different forms nature had already given them. I did not want to conceal the character of a stone beneath a conventional setting. I wanted every design to grow around it, allowing its natural shape, markings and individuality to remain at the heart of the finished piece.
Those early years became a time of exploration. I combined crystals with Old World metalwork, hand-shaped botanical details, flowers, leaves and vines. Some pieces became pendants or pendulums; others became wands, small standing treasures or curious objects with no need to fit neatly into an ordinary category.
Fantasy found its way into the work as well. Dragons curled protectively around gemstones. Roses emerged from smoky quartz. Silver and copper-toned fittings gave natural crystal points the feeling of objects carried from another time.
No two stones began alike, and so no two finished creations could ever truly be identical. Even when I returned to a familiar idea, the crystal itself determined where the design would go. I could attempt to recreate the feeling of an earlier piece, but nature would always ensure that the next one had its own character.
At the time, I was not consciously creating a signature style or imagining an estate that would one day contain it all. I was learning through my hands—following curiosity, refining techniques and discovering the visual language that felt most authentically my own.
Looking back now, I can see that the foundations of Crystal Chrysalis were already present in those earliest creations: natural beauty, Old World romance, botanical detail, a touch of fantasy and the belief that even the smallest object could carry a story.
The artistry came first.
The name—and everything that would grow from it—was still waiting to emerge.
A Language of My Own
By 2010, the years of experimenting had begun to form a creative language I could recognize as my own.
Natural quartz crystals and gemstones remained the center of everything. I selected them individually—not simply for clarity, size or conventional perfection, but for the character I could see within them. Inclusions, markings, unusual formations and small natural differences were not flaws to be hidden. They were often the very details that inspired the finished design.
Around each stone, I began building what I came to describe as my Old World Designs: pieces influenced by Victorian, Edwardian, Renaissance, fantasy and botanical ornamentation, without belonging entirely to any one period. Silver and copper-toned metalwork, sculpted leaves and flowers, gemstones, beads and antique-inspired fittings became part of that evolving vocabulary.
The intention was never to manufacture a repeated design. Each creation began as a conversation with the stone in front of me. Some became richly detailed pendants; others became pendulums with coordinating counterweights, ceremonial-style wands or small crystal treasures intended simply to be admired.
In 2010, this body of work was finally given its name: Crystal Chrysalis.
Through that name, the creations found their way beyond my own worktable. They travelled to collectors, spiritual practitioners, physical shops and homes of their own. Some were chosen for their beauty, some for their intended use and others because a particular stone or design seemed to call unmistakably to its eventual keeper.
Because every piece was one of a kind, the photographs gradually became more than listing images. They became the surviving record of creations that could never be made in precisely the same way again.
Looking back at them now, I can see more than individual pendants and pendulums. I can see my confidence growing, my techniques becoming more intricate and the language of Crystal Chrysalis becoming unmistakably its own.
One hand could hold several creations—and not one of them would repeat another.
